Fast-pace and high-stakes, the St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton, California experiences a steady flow of patients and busy employees every day. Identifying cost and time-saving opportunities is essential for the facility to run smoothly, safely and efficiently.
As St. Joseph’s Medical Center encounters heavy traffic throughout the building, wear and tear is prevalent in many areas of the health facility. One issue in particular is the maternity ward doors, which suffer from frequent use and require a fresh coat of paint every three months. When identifying a design solution, the team wanted the doors to match the recent changes made to the flooring.
In an effort to find a long-term maintenance solution for the doors in the maternal area, the St. Joseph’s Medical Center’s facility management team decided to forego the expense of painting and, instead, install 3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes on the four doors. DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes transform spaces quickly and offer extended durability with endless aesthetic possibilities. The architectural finishes were a perfect fit for the facility’s overall goals to match recent design changes and decrease the frequency of maintenance.
DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes provided the newly refreshed maternity ward doors with a new design solution and have not required maintenance or replacement since installation in 2018. In addition to eliminating the need for fresh paint every few months, St. Joseph’s Medical Center was able to repurpose the existing doors, saving on cost and eliminating the need to dispose of large items in a landfill. This not only led to overall cost-savings, but also supported the health facility’s sustainability efforts.
As a result of the continued benefits from the successful refresh, the team decided to install the architectural finishes in other areas of the health facility, including 35 additional doors, two countertops and one elevator. The wide variety of aesthetics available with DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes allow the facility to customize each surface for its surrounding space.
The team at St. Joseph’s Medical Center is familiar with the reliability of 3M products, as they currently use a variety of 3M cleaning and safety products, including 3M™ Easy Shine, 3M™ Trizact™ Abrasives, and Scotch-Brite™ Surface Preparation Pad Plus. After adding DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes to their lineup, the team was so pleased with the results that they continue to transform additional spaces in the facility.
